Teesside

Yes, MESMAC NORTH EAST has an office in Teesside in central Middlesbrough to be exact. The team consists of two full-time community workers one part-time group and outreach worker, two volunteer counsellors and an admin worker.

We provide services for people who live in what used to be the old Cleveland County area - that is now Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough.

All the services we offer are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.

RAPID TEST (1 HOUR HIV TEST)

This is a new service that runs from MESMAC'S Teesside office on Tuesdays, drop-in between 12 noon and 6pm, appointments can be made for other days and times though if required.

The test is a simple finger prick test with pre and post test counselling, and results within the hour.

This service is run by MESMAC North East, Teesside Positive Action and The Department of Infection & Travel Medicine, James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

 

GROUPS

TGV (Tees Gay Valley)
This is a weekly group for young gay and bisexual men aged under 25. It offers a safe place to talk about issues that are relevant to them. We hold regular socail events and activities, such as meetings with other young men's groups from around the area., bowling, trips to the cinema, quizes and themed party nights.
We meet on a Tuesday evening starting from 7.00pm until 9.00pm. Contact MESMAC Teesside on: 01642 804400 for more information.

JTGV (Junior Tees Gay Valley)

Under 16's group for young gay, bisexual men or young men who are unsure of their sexuality.

Teessides Out (Gay and Bisexual Men's Group)
This group meets weekly and is a social group for gay and bisexual men aged over 20. The group is informal and friendly, we also have issue based meetings as well as social meetings and activities such as barbecues with other gay men's groups from other areas, trips to the theatre and cinema.
We meet every Thursday from 7pm until 9pm. Contact Stephen for more information.

Counselling Services
Almost everyone needs someone to talk stuff through with at some time in their lives. There are two trained counsellors available for weekly sessions at our Middlesbrough office. Contact us for more information.
